What is Treadmill Test?
Treadmill test (TMT) also known as Cardiovascular Stress test, is typically designed to check the efficacy of heart while facing any sort of physical stress. This test is used to monitor the blood flow of heart while doing exercise on a treadmill under medical supervision. An electrocardiogram machine is hooked with the person and continuous monitoring of blood pressure is done.
It is recommended if a person complains of any previous history of chest pain or any discomfort while doing exercise. This test is also advised to a person undergoing a heart treatment or planning to start a vigorous physical activity.
This test is performed under medical supervision and hence is considered safe ; however a patient should inform their physician about any past history of heart disease or arthritis.
