Lp-PLA2 (Lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2) activity test measures the activity of Lp-PLA2 in blood. Lp-PLA2 is an enzyme which plays role in the inflammation of blood vessels. This enzyme is said to promote atherosclerosis. It is done to check whether the person is at the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke.
