Patient Concerns about Erycin Products

Frequently asked questions about Erycin Products

Frequently asked questions about Erythromycin

Q. How should Erycin Gel be applied?
Erycin Gel should be applied twice daily. It should be applied to a dry, clean face to lessen the possibility of irritation. Spread it gently and uniformly in a thin layer but you need not rub it in.
Q. What is Erycin Gel used for?
Erycin Gel is used for treatment of acne vulgaris also known as pimples or spots. It is used to reduce the growth of bacteria which cause acne. It can also be used to treat skin infections.
Q. What precautions need to be followed while applying Erycin Gel?
Erycin Gel should be applied cautiously. It should not come into contact with the eyes, lips, or the lining of the mouth or nose. Do not apply to broken skin. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Be careful not to use cosmetic products containing alcohol, irritant, or medicated soaps, as these may cause irritation or drying effects.
Q. How long does it take for Erycin Gel to work for acne?
Successful treatment of acne may take several weeks or even months. The normal treatment time is 10 to 12 weeks. Consult your doctor, if you do not see improvement at the end of the prescribed course of treatment.
Q. If Erycin Gel does not help me with acne, can I use clindamycin?
If you have already used Erycin Gel, antibiotics of the same class (macrolides), clindamycin and lincomycin may also not work. This could be because of drug resistance. In this, the bacteria gets modified in your body and medicines may not be able to treat the new modified form.
Q. How should Erycin Gel be stored?
Store it in a cool dry place below 25 degrees centigrade. Some of the preparations may contain alcohol, which are flammable, and therefore should be kept away from high temperatures.
Q. What if I forget to apply Erycin Gel?
Try not to forget to use Erycin Gel, as missing an application will slow down the healing process. However, if you have missed an application, use Erycin Gel as soon as you remember, but a gap of about three hours is required before you use it again.
Q. Can the use of Erycin Gel cause diarrhea?
Yes, the use of Erycin Gel can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.
Q. How long does Erycin Gel takes to work?
Usually, Erycin Gel starts working soon after taking it. However, it may take some days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
Q. What if I don't get better after using Erycin Gel?
Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
Q. Can I stop taking Erycin Gel when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop taking Erycin Gel and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
Q. Can the use of Erycin Gel cause infertility?
There is no firm evidence to suggest that the use of Erycin Gel will cause infertility in males or females.
