Understanding CT Scan Enterography
What is CT Scan Enterography?
CT enterography is an imaging test that uses computerized tomography and a contrast material to visualize the small intestine. It is used for detecting intestinal disorders such as inflammation, tumors, bowel obstructions and bleeding. It also helps in monitoring the efficacy of an ongoing treatment process for any intestinal disorder. This test is advised if a doctor suspects the symptoms of crohn's disease such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, blood in stool and frequent need for bowel movement.
Occasional cases of reaction to contrast reagent can be seen.
Women should inform their physicians if they are breast feeding.
