BCR-ABL Quantitative PCR (IS Scale)
Understanding BCR-ABL Quantitative PCR (IS Scale)
What is BCR-ABL Quantitative PCR (IS Scale)?
Bcr-Abl gene translocation is a genetic test that measures the mutation in the Bcr and Abl genes. This test is generally done if you exhibit symptoms of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or Ph-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). It also helps in assessing the efficacy of treatment, if you are undergoing one.
The Bcr-Abl mutation is either studied in your blood or bone marrow. Both tests only take ten minutes and there are no complications associated. However, you may experience a slight burning sensation or pain while collecting bone marrow cells. If it is found that you have Bcr-Abl mutation and elevated WBC count, you are likely to have CML or Ph-positive ALL. So, get yourself tested for Bcr-Abl gene mutation if you experience anemia and weight loss.
