Diarrhea refers to the passing of loose, watery stools three or more times a day due to an infection in the gastrointestinal tract. Avof OZ Plus Syrup reduces the excessive secretion of water and electrolytes and helps replenish the lost fluids and salts. It also helps treat loose stools and prevents abdominal distension or flatulence. Your child needs to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it and drink plenty of fluids while taking it to stay hydrated.
Your child may start to feel better after getting treated for a few days to a week. However, do not extend the course or stop the medicine by yourself without consulting your child’s doctor. This may lead to the recurrence of symptoms.

How Avof OZ Plus Syrup works
Avof OZ Plus Syrup contains three medicines Racecadotril, Ofloxacin, and Metronidazole. Together it treats diarrhea and dysentery. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that has anti-secretory effects. Simply put, this particular active ingredient reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. This helps reduce the amount of fluid lost from the body in diarrhea. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection. Metronidazole is also an antibiotic that kills other microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging the DNA.

- Avof OZ Plus Syrup should be used together with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to provide adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement.
- Give your child plenty of fluids to replenish water and mineral loss.
- Give your child a low fiber and high binding foods such as BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast) diet.
- Avof OZ Plus Syrup may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.

Q. What if I give too much Avof OZ Plus Syrup by mistake?
Though an extra dose of Avof OZ Plus Syrup is unlikely to harm, you must immediately speak to the doctor Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). So, if you think you have given too much to your child, rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis.
Q. My child is one year old and is suffering from a neurological disorder. Is it safe to give Avof OZ Plus Syrup?
Usually Avof OZ Plus Syrup does not enter into the central nervous system and lacks the potential to cause serious side effects such as neurotoxicity. But, children aged less than 2 years of age have underdeveloped membranes and the medicine might enter the brain. Consult your child’s doctor before giving Avof OZ Plus Syrup in such a condition.
Q. My child has milk intolerance. Can I give Avof OZ Plus Syrup to my child?
It is not advised to give Avof OZ Plus Syrup to children who are intolerant to dairy products/milk as Avof OZ Plus Syrup contains lactose.
Q. My child has been passing red-brown urine ever since he started taking Avof OZ Plus Syrup. Is it normal?
Yes, it is normal. Avof OZ Plus Syrup contains an active ingredient called metronidazole which can cause red-brown urine. It is a harmless side effect and will subside on completion of the treatment.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Avof OZ Plus Syrup?
Avof OZ Plus Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Avof OZ Plus Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. My child is suffering from long-term (chronic) diarrhea. Can I give Avof OZ Plus Syrup?
The use of Avof OZ Plus Syrup in chronic diarrhea has not been sufficiently studied. Therefore, it is best to consult your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Avof OZ Plus Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
