Understanding Ultrasound TVS
What is Ultrasound TVS?
Ultrasonography or Ultrasound test for Transvaginal (TVS) is used to examine female reproductive organs like the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, and vagina. In this test, a probe is inserted about two or three inches into your vaginal canal. This test uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of your internal organs. This test can be done for the following problems like abnormal vaginal bleeding, certain types of infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and pelvic pain.
An abnormal TVS result can be sometimes be indicative of cancer of the uterus, endometriosis, infections, and pregnancy outside of the uterus (ectopic pregnancy).
There are no known harmful effects of TVS on humans. Unlike traditional X-rays, there is no radiation exposure with this test.
