MRI Dynamic Study Pituitary with Contrast
Understanding MRI Dynamic Study Pituitary with Contrast
What is MRI Dynamic Study Pituitary with Contrast?
MRI dynamic study pituitary with contrast is a computerised test that gives three-dimensional images of the pituitary. These reports help doctors determine the size of a pituitary tumour. It also helps distinguish normal, healthy tissue from diseased tissue. Tumours greater than one cm (macroadenomas) cause headaches, vision problems, and a drop in hormone levels. Tumours less than one cm (microadenomas) produce excess pituitary hormones.
This MRI technique captures the high level of contrast between the tumour and the normal pituitary gland in fleeting seconds. It is capable of capturing the smallest pituitary microadenomas that are not visible on conventional MRI. Contrast MRI is the only way to detect the pituitary gland for all lesions. It takes about half an hour to an hour.
