What is Hepatitis C Virus Antibody, CMIA/CLIA?
Hepatitis C Virus(HCV) CMIA/ CLIA Antibody test, looks for antibodies to the hepatitis C virus in the blood using the chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay(CMIA)/ Chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) method. The purpose of this test is to determine whether an individual has been infected by the hepatitis C virus, to evaluate a current or past infection, and to guide a patient’s treatment.
Positive result indicates that your body was exposed to the hepatitis C virus and made antibodies. Any patient with a positive test result should undergo additional tests to determine whether or not the virus is still active. Negative result means you have not been infected with hepatitis C virus and further testing is not required.
