MPO- ANCA
Understanding MPO- ANCA
What is MPO- ANCA?
P-ANCA measures the autoantibodies (Perinuclear-Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies or P-ANCA) related to an enzyme Myeloperoxidase (MPO). This test helps diagnose and monitor various autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, such as vasculitis like granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Wegener's granulomatosis, and Churg-Strauss syndrome. It helps evaluate treatment response in people with autoimmune diseases or vasculitis and may also be used to differentiate other conditions with similar symptoms. You may get tested if you experience symptoms like joint pain and stiffness, fatigue, skin rash, shortness of breath, high blood pressure, blood in urine, etc. The test results can help guide treatment decisions, detect relapse (recurrence) in previously treated individuals, and assess disease severity to determine prognosis and treatment options.
