Anti Musk Antibodies

Anti-muscle-specific kinase (Anti Musk) antibodies are autoantibodies produced by the immune system to attack the muscle-specific kinase proteins, also produced by the body. The Anti Musk Antibody test is used to detect the level of autoantibodies in people suffering from Myasthenia Gravis (MG),an autoimmune disease. Its symptoms are weakness of the eyes, drooping of the eyelids, blurred vision, change in facial expression, impaired speech, shortness of breath, and difficulty in swallowing.

This test is ordered to help distinguish MG from other conditions with mimicking symptoms, like muscle fatigue and weakness. A positive test result could mean myasthenia gravis, for which medications such as corticosteroids and immunosuppressants are prescribed along with therapies and surgery in case of a tumour.
