Nome Suspension is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial and protozoal infections. These infections may include tooth abscess, gum infection, pneumonia, diarrhea, dysentery, burning sensation while passing urine, and genital tract infection.Nome Suspension inhibits the growth of infection-causing organisms by stopping them from multiplying. It is most likely that your child’s infection will start showing improvement within 3 to 5 days of the regular dosing. Make sure to complete the full course of treatment even if your child feels better. Stopping the medicine abruptly by yourself may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.
In Treatment of Diarrhea
Diarrhea is an increase in the frequency of bowel movements or loose watery bowel movements. It can most commonly occur due to an infection of the digestive tract. Nome Suspension helps to treat diarrhea that is caused due to bacteria or parasitic worm infections. This medicine can relieve frequent loose motions and also help you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Dysentery or amoebic dysentery is a parasitic infection of the intestines that occurs mostly due to intake of contaminated food or water. The symptoms include loose stools (diarrhea), stomach cramps and stomach pain. Nome Suspension helps to treat this infection by killing the infection causing parasites. It relieves these symptoms and also helps you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You need to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it and you should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Nome Suspension is an antibiotic, having metronidazole and norfloxacin as its active ingredients. - Your child has been prescribed Nome Suspension for the treatment of bacterial and parasitic infections.
- If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water.
- Nome Suspension may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
- Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Nome Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
- Your child must complete the entire course of Nome Suspension. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
- Discontinue Nome Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
- Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

Q. My child is having a genetic deficiency of the G6PD enzyme. Is it safe to give Nome Suspension?
It is advised that you get your child’s G6PD deficiency evaluated before starting the course of treatment. Avoid giving Nome Suspension as deficiency of G6PD enzymes can lead to breaking of blood cells resulting in severe anemia.
Q. Can Nome Suspension be given along with cough and cold medicines?
No, do not give Nome Suspension with cough and cold medicines. Nome Suspension can interact with alcohol-containing medicines like cough syrups and cause disulfiram reaction, leading to side effects such as nausea, vomiting, flushing, dizziness, etc.
Q. What if I give excess Nome Suspension by mistake?
An extra dose of Nome Suspension is unlikely to cause any harm. But, you must still be vigilant because overdose increases the risk of unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, blood cell abnormalities, and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis if you notice any of these symptoms. If you think you have given too much Nome Suspension to your child, immediately speak to a doctor.
Q. What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Nome Suspension for the prescribed duration?
Speak to your child’s doctor if your child does not show any improvement even after completing the dose. It could mean that the medicine is not able to act against the infection-causing bacteria. Your child’s doctor may change Nome Suspension and prescribe some other antibiotic which is known to have a stronger impact on the infection-causing bacteria.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Nome Suspension?
Nome Suspension can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Nome Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Nome Suspension?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Q. What should I tell the doctor before giving Nome Suspension to my child?
Inform the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there is a possibility that Nome Suspension may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.
