Ticlopidine Uses
Ticlopidine is used to prevent Stroke. It decreases the chances of having another stroke, heart attack, or death from a disease related to your heart or blood vessels.
How Ticlopidine works
Ticlopidine is an antiplatelet medication. It works by preventing platelets from sticking together, thereby decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots. This lowers the chance of stroke or heart attack.

Expert advice for Ticlopidine
- Take it with food to help you lower your chance of having an upset stomach like nausea and vomiting.
- Ticlopidine increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, using sharp objects, or cutting fingernails or toenails.
- Do not discontinue using the medicine without consulting your doctor as this may increase your chances of having another heart attack or stroke.
- If you are scheduled to undergo a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Ticlopidine temporarily.
- You may be asked for regular blood tests to monitor CBC( complete blood count). Inform your doctor if you experience decreased white blood cells(WBC) and any infection.
- Ticlopidine may lower your ability to fight off infections and make you more susceptible to them. Tell your doctor right away if you have any signs of infection (e.g., fever, cough, sore throat and chills)
