How Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid works
Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Faropenem and Clavulanic Acid. Faropenem is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Faropenem against bacteria.

- Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid is used for the treatment of bacterial infections.
- Stick to simple meals, avoid rich or spicy food and drink plenty of water while taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid.
- Try to drink plenty of water while you are taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid.
- Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid.
- Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
- If you are taking any contraceptive 'pill' at the same time as this antibiotic, the effectiveness of the 'pill' can be reduced if you vomiting (which lasts for more than 24 hours). In such a case, ask your doctor for additional contraceptive measures.
- Stop taking Faropenem + Clavulanic Acid and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or breathing difficulties while taking it.
