Polycain Oral Gel is a combination of three medicines: Benzocaine, Magaldrate and Simethicone which relieve acidity, heartburn and stomach ulcers. Benzocaine is a local anesthetic which provides faster relief from pain due to ulcers or acidic injury in the stomach. Magaldrate is an inorganic salt that neutralises the excess acid in stomach. Simethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.
