Nitpace Tablet works by stopping the growth of the bacteria in the urine that cause urinary tract infections. This medicine usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, you should continue taking it as long as it is prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Consuming alcohol while taking Nitpace Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Pregnancy

Nitpace Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Breast feeding
CAUTION
Nitpace Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
Driving
UNSAFE
Nitpace Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Nitpace Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Nitpace Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Nitpace Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, who are unable to pass urine or have high creatinine levels.

Q. How long does Nitpace Tablet take to work on a UTI?
Nitpace Tablet starts acting quickly, but you will not start feeling better immediately after taking it. It may take a few days (2-3 days) before you see any improvement in your symptoms. If you do not start feeling better within 3 days of starting Nitpace Tablet or your condition worsens, contact your doctor. It is important to complete the full course of Nitpace Tablet as advised by your doctor, even if you start feeling better.
Q. What happens if you take Nitpace Tablet without food?
You should take Nitpace Tablet with your meal or straightaway after the meal. Taking with food helps in absorption of medicine so that it works better. If you take it without food, you are likely to get an upset stomach. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and loss of appetite may also occur. Therefore, to avoid unpleasant side effects, take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Q. Does Nitpace Tablet make your urine orange?
Nitpace Tablet may turn your urine brown or dark yellow in colour. However, you need not worry as this is usually temporary and completely harmless effect. It will disappear once you stop taking Nitpace Tablet. Consult your doctor if you are not sure or still have any concern, but do not stop taking Nitpace Tablet.
Q. Can Nitpace Tablet give you a yeast infection?
Yes, some people may get a fungal or yeast infection known as ‘thrush’ after taking Nitpace Tablet. This is because antibiotics kill the ‘good bacteria’ which help in preventing thrush. You should inform your doctor if you get vaginal itching or discharge after taking Nitpace Tablet or soon after stopping it.
Q. Is Nitpace Tablet a strong antibiotic?
Yes, Nitpace Tablet is a strong antibiotic (or broad spectrum antibiotic), which means that it is effective against a wide variety of urinary bacteria. It is important that Nitpace Tablet should be given to treat or prevent infections that are proven to be caused by susceptible bacteria. This is usually evaluated by a culture test which demonstrates a range of bacteria which cannot grow in the prence of an antibiotic. Nitpace Tablet has seen to be effective against UTI caused by Escherichia coli, Enteroccus faecalis, Klebsiella species, Enterobacter species, Staphylococcus species: (eg S. aureus, S. saprophyticus, S. epidermidis). Some strains of Enterobacter and Klebsiella are resistant to Nitpace Tablet.
