Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR is a medicine used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is a combination of two medicines that effectively controls blood pressure when a single medication is not effective.

Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. It also eliminates excess water from the body and increases urine output. This lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

Side effects of Natrilam Tablet SR

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Breast feeding

Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving

Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver

Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you forget to take Natrilam Tablet SR?

If you miss a dose of Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Natrilam 2.5mg Tablet SR helps in the treatment of high blood pressure.
  • It also lowers your risk of stroke and heart attack.
  • Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.
  • It may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension).  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • It may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth.
  • Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while you are taking this medicine.

Persistent high arterial blood pressure above 120/80 mm HG is termed as pre-hypertension or hypertension, but the point to be emphasized is that this rise in blood pressure is persistent. Transient increase in BP occurs in stress and anxiety and needs to be treated accordingly.
