Moxival 0.5% Injection is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping further growth of the causative microorganisms.

Moxival 0.5% Injection is used to treat variety of infections caused by multiple organisms which affect various parts of the body

Moxival 0.5% Injection is an antibiotic medicine. It works by stopping the growth of the bacteria that is causing the infection. It helps relieve symptoms such as pain, redness, itching or soreness caused due to eye infections. The dose and duration of treatment will be decided by your doctor based on your condition. Make sure you complete the full course of treatment. This will ensure that the infection is completely cured and prevent it from returning.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Pregnancy

Moxival 0.5% Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding

Moxival 0.5% Injection is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
Moxival 0.5% Injection may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Moxival 0.5% Injection may make you feel dizzy or light-headed, you may experience a sudden, transient loss of vision, or you may faint for a short period. This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Moxival 0.5% Injection is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Moxival 0.5% Injection is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Moxival 0.5% Injection should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Moxival 0.5% Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Moxival 0.5% Injection in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

Quick tips

  • You have been prescribed Moxival 0.5% Injection for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication.
  • Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contamination.
  • Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
  • It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.
  • Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
  • Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.
