Your child’s medicine at a glance

Foru 125mg Tablet effectively treats bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, lungs, skin, soft tissues, bones, joints, and urinary tract in children. It is also given to prevent infection in animal and human bite wounds and may also be given before surgical procedures as a preventive therapy.

Foru 125mg Tablet can be given either before or after meals but giving it with food improves absorption and reduces the chances of stomach upset in your child. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is already time for the next dose.

This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy. These episodes should start receding after a few doses. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.

Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

FAQs

Q. My child is underweight and is not growing as per his age. Is it safe to give Foru 125mg Tablet?

Q. My child is suffering from a seizure disorder. Can I give Foru 125mg Tablet to my child?

Foru 125mg Tablet may cause seizure activity, particularly in children who have kidney disease. So, Foru 125mg Tablet should be used with caution in children with a history of seizure disorder. If seizures occur, discontinue Foru 125mg Tablet and visit your child’s doctor right away.

Q. What if I give too much of Foru 125mg Tablet by mistake?

An extra dose of Foru 125mg Tablet is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Foru 125mg Tablet to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.

Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Foru 125mg Tablet?

Q. What other medicines should not be given along with Foru 125mg Tablet?

Avoid giving Foru 125mg Tablet along with medicines like aminoglycosides such as amikacin, gentamicin, streptomycin, and anticoagulants (blood-thinners) such as warfarin. Before you start giving Foru 125mg Tablet to your child, let your child’s doctor know if your child is taking any of the above-mentioned medicines.

Q. Can I vaccinate my child while he is taking Foru 125mg Tablet?

The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your child’s condition.

Q. Does a common cold caused by viruses always result in a secondary bacterial infection? When to start an antibiotic to prevent infection?

In most cases, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics to treat viral infections may instead lead to side effects without benefiting your child's health. Hence, you must give antibiotics to your child only after consulting with your child’s doctor.

Q. Can Foru 125mg Tablet impact my child’s digestion?

Antibiotics kill the infection-causing bacteria, but while doing this they may affect the good bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, your child may develop diarrhea or some other infections as well. Moreover, children have a more sensitive stomach than adults, so the likelihood of developing a stomach upset is more. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Foru 125mg Tablet, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
