How Flucoril Syrup works
Flucoril Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine, and Paracetamol which relieve dry cough. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of the cough center in the brain. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It works by blocking the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that transmit pain signals and induce fever.

What if I forget to give Flucoril Syrup to my child?
Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose If it’s almost time for the next dose. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule and do not give the double dose to catch up with the missed dose.

No. This medicine is preferably meant for children having dry coughs. In case of a wet cough (cough with mucus), mucoactive ingredients are prescribed. It is better to ask your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
My child has taken an excessive amount of Flucoril Syrup by mistake. What should I do?
Accidental excess intake of Flucoril Syrup can put your child at risk of developing serious side effects like seizures, rapid heart rate, depression, cognition defects, and inability to concentrate. If your child experiences any such symptom, call your child’s doctor right away.
My child is having dry cough and breathlessness due to the underlying heart disease. Can I give Flucoril Syrup?
