It is effective for bacterial infections of the throat, ears, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

Cefact 125mg Tablet does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Cefact 125mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. This activity stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Cefact 125mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Cefact 125mg Tablet is recommended.
However, consult with your child’s doctor before giving Cefact 125mg Tablet to your child in case of a severe form of liver disease.

What if I forget to give Cefact 125mg Tablet to my child?

Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule strictly.

Quick tips

  • Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
  • Contact your doctor if your child has diarrhea that goes on for more than 4 days or if it is severe and watery, or contains blood.
  • Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
  • Only give Cefact 125mg Tablet to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
  • Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
  • You may see white patches inside your child’s mouth and throat after a prolonged intake of Cefact 125mg Tablet. This could be due to a fungal infection. So, if your child develops any such effect, contact your doctor right away.

Can Cefact 125mg Tablet impact my child’s digestion?

Cefact 125mg Tablet is an antibiotic and its use may affect or compromise the good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby increasing the risk of developing other infections. In case your child experiences diarrhea while being on treatment with Cefact 125mg Tablet, do not abruptly stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps.
