Betamycin-N Cream is a combination medicine that is used to treat various types of skin infections. It minimizes symptoms of inflammation such as redness, swelling, and itching. It also has an antimicrobial action against the infection-causing microorganisms.

Betamycin-N Cream is a combination of two medicines: Betamycin-N Cream1 and Betamycin-N Cream2 which treat skin infections.

Betamycin-N Cream is used to treat skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, severe insect bites, prickly heat, and other types of rash. It reduces swelling, redness, and itching and so helps prevent scratching that can further irritate the skin. Apply a thin layer of Betamycin-N Cream, once or twice a day, to affected areas of skin only. You may see an improvement in your skin within a week depending on the severity of your condition.

How to use Betamycin-N Cream

How Betamycin-N Cream works

Betamycin-N Cream is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Neomycin. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Neomycin is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth on the skin by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Betamycin-N Cream is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
The baby's skin should not come into direct contact with the treated area of skin. Water-miscible cream/gel is preferred as ointments may expose the baby to harmful effects of Betamycin-N Cream via licking.

What if you forget to take Betamycin-N Cream?

If you miss a dose of Betamycin-N Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Betamycin-N Cream is used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections.
  • It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film, two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
  • Do not use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. 
  • Do not apply it to broken skin and avoid getting it in your eyes, nose or mouth. 
  • Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
  • It may cause temporary burning, itching or a redness at application site. This is usually mild. Consult your doctor if you experience a more severe reaction.
  • Inform your doctor if your skin problem hasn't improved after seven days of treatment.
