Albendazole works by keeping the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), thereby depleting their energy level. This causes the worms to die, thereby treating your child’s infection effectively.

What if I forget to give Albenya Plus Syrup to my child?
Do not panic. The missed dose can be given as soon as you remember it. However, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose or if your child’s doctor has advised doing so. Do not give a double dose and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

How can I know that my child is having a worm infection?
It could be worm infection if your child complains of an itchy bottom (rectal area), difficulty sitting, fatigue, restless sleep due to anal itching, and persistent stomach pain with loss of appetite or frequent indigestion. Another sign of worm infection is pica in which you may notice your child eating inedible substances such as mud. Speak to your child’s doctor as soon as you notice any of these in your child. The doctor may suggest collecting your child’s stool and blood samples on 3 different days for examination. Areas with poor sanitation may have soil that is contaminated with eggs of worms. Your child may also get infected by playing in the contaminated soil. When your child returns home after playing, ask them to clean up using soap and water. Transmission can also occur by drinking contaminated water or by eating contaminated vegetables and fruits without washing or peeling.
