Adefree 2% Shampoo is an antifungal medication used to control scaling, flaking and itching caused by dandruff. Dandruff is caused by excessive growth of Pityrosporum orbiculare (Malassezia furfur), which is part of normal skin flora. It is also used to treat irregular white or brown patches which occur on the body and sometimes appear after being in the sun (tinea/pityriasis versicolor). Regular application of Adefree 2% Shampoo on the scalp relieves itching and discomfort in people suffering from dandruff.

How often should I use Adefree 2% Shampoo?

If you are using it to treat dandruff, you should use it only twice weekly and if you are using it to prevent dandruff, then use it once weekly. Do not use Adefree 2% Shampoo more often than directed.

How should I apply Adefree 2% Shampoo?

You should first wash your hair or affected area thoroughly with water. Then apply a small amount of Adefree 2% Shampoo on the scalp. Massage properly to form lather. Leave it for 3-5 minutes, then thoroughly rinse with water. If you have long and thick hair, you can wash with your usual shampoo first and then use Adefree 2% Shampoo.

Can Adefree 2% Shampoo be used in kids?

No, Adefree 2% Shampoo is not approved for kids and the safety in the children is yet to be known. Refrain from self-medicating this medication in children or yourself and consult your doctor for advice.

I have started using Adefree 2% Shampoo. By when can I expect to start seeing the improvements?

The symptoms of the infection, such as itching or soreness, should improve within a few days of treatment. However, the signs such as redness and scaling may take longer to disappear. Do not stop applying this medicine before the duration advised by your doctor, even if you feel better.

Can Adefree 2% Shampoo affect vision if it gets into the eye while washing hair?
