Description of Filariasis
Filariasis, commonly known as elephantiasis, is a parasitic disease that affects the lymph nodes and lymph vessels. It is caused by an infection with roundworms which are spread by mosquitoes and black flies. It is a painful and extremely disfiguring condition. It can lead to fluid retention and swelling of the limbs, arms, vulva, scrotum, and breasts.
