Diabetic macular edema (accumulation of fluid in eye of diabetic patients)

Description of Diabetic macular edema (accumulation of fluid in eye of diabetic patients)

Diabetes can impair the permeability of the small blood vessels (capillaries) in your eyes. Fluid leaks out into the retina of your eyes and causes it to swell. The swelling obstructs the macula (a part of eye that helps in focusing of vision) causing blurred vision. This condition is called diabetic macular edema.
