Anemia due to cancer chemotherapy

Description of Anemia due to cancer chemotherapy

Anemia refers to decreased levels of red blood cells. Certain types of cancer that affect blood and bone marrow, such as, multiple myeloma, leukemia, and lymphoma, can crowd out red blood cells. Also, cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, leads to anemia in cancer patients. This occurs when some drugs or radiation kill the red blood cells alongwith the targeted cancerous cells.
